31 AutoGyros made their way to Vredenoord Game Range and Matoppi Safaris despite the cold and rainy weather. 34 pilots and air hostesses left from Kitty Hawk, Springs, Krugersdorp and as far afield as the Free State to join like-minded kindred spirits for the AutoGyro-Africa uitskiet weekend. Making it the biggest AutoGyro fly-in ever! The cold and wet conditions did little to deter the enthusiasm and sense of adventure. After all, nothing comes between a gyro and its destination.
Theuns, Ninie, Andy Wall from AutoGyro Germany and the ground crew, Nadia, Nadine and Oupa, welcomed the cold and slightly wet travellers at Matoppi. The air was soon abuzz with ‘wet tales’ and gyro speak.
On Saterday the pilots went exploring the Limpopo River and freshly rain-washed bush veld. A few animals were spotted from the air, underlining again the enjoyment factor of autogyro flying. The rest of the day was a leisurely affair with siestas, discussions and more kuiers. Andy gave a futuristic look into journey of AutoGyro.
Too soon it was Sunday and time to say goodbye to new friends and acquaintances. We had a wonderful time among our big, happy, warm AutoGyro-Africa family.
Until next time – GELYK LOOP.
